Job Description

TRP Construction Group is looking for an experienced mechanic to join our Sanford maintenance team. This is a primarily shop-based position maintaining and repairing our fleet of diesel and gasoline trucks, trailers, hydraulic systems, small engines, and specialized construction equipment. Occasional field repairs may be required when equipment breaks down.

No pavement-marking or striping equipment experience is required. We have an experienced mechanic on staff who will provide training on our specialized equipment.

Pay: $30-$35/hour + Overtime Opportunities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline trucks, trailers, and construction equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, suspension, and drivetrain issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections
  • Repair small engines and auxiliary equipment
  • Assist with occasional field breakdowns
  • Maintain basic maintenance and repair records
  • Work with operations to keep equipment safe, reliable, and ready for use

Qualifications:

  • Previous mechanical experience with vehicles, trucks, heavy equipment, or similar equipment
  • Strong general mechanical and troubleshooting ability
  • Knowledge of electrical diagnostic procedures
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a two-mechanic maintenance team

Preferred but not required:

  • Diesel or heavy-duty truck experience
  • Hydraulic experience
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • CDL
  • Fleet or construction-equipment experience
  • Primarily shop-based work
  • Training on specialized equipment
