Job Description

AlphaGov helps government and public-sector organizations make informed decisions about compensation, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and talent.

We are expanding our network of senior compensation and human resources professionals to support current and future consulting engagements.

About the Opportunity

We welcome experienced directors, executives, consultants, and independent advisors with expertise in compensation, total rewards, benefits, job classification, or related workforce strategy.

This opportunity is suited to professionals who can lead client engagements, guide analytical work, and translate findings into practical recommendations. Experience may come from government, corporate, healthcare, education, nonprofit, or consulting environments.

Potential Responsibilities

Depending on the engagement, you may:

  • Lead compensation, benefits, and total rewards studies.
  • Guide salary benchmarking, market analysis, and pay structure development.
  • Review job classifications, career frameworks, and organizational structures.
  • Evaluate internal equity, market competitiveness, and retention challenges.
  • Develop compensation strategies, policies, and implementation recommendations.
  • Coordinate analysts, consultants, and subject matter experts.
  • Present findings to executives, HR leaders, governing boards, and other stakeholders.
  • Support proposal development through technical input and project planning.
  • Oversee project quality, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Substantial experience in compensation, total rewards, benefits, or related HR consulting.
  • Experience leading projects, programs, teams, or client engagements.
  • Ability to interpret workforce and compensation data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership.
  • Experience developing salary structures, compensation programs, or job classification systems.

Director-level experience or equivalent consulting leadership is preferred. Applicants do not need to have held a specific job title.

Preferred Experience

  • Consulting or advisory work for U.S. government or public-sector organizations.
  • Compensation studies for municipalities, counties, utilities, educational institutions, or public agencies.
  • Experience with complex organizations, multiple employee groups, or collective bargaining environments.
  • Relevant credentials such as CCP, CBP, GRP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR.

Public-sector experience and certifications are preferred, not required.

Engagements may involve serving as a project director, technical lead, senior advisor, or specialist. Scope, compensation, and availability will be discussed for each opportunity.

Independent consultants and professionals interested in select project engagements are encouraged to apply.
