Product Engineer

About the Role

This is a hands-on, generalist product engineering role where you will own the app experience end-to-end across iOS, Apple Watch, and Mac, along with the shared backend surfaces that power them. You will work directly alongside product leadership as one of the first engineering hires in the US, making real product tradeoffs and shipping user-facing improvements quickly. The work sits at the intersection of consumer software, wearables, and AI, and has a direct impact on how everyday users experience an ambient intelligence product.

What You'll Do

• Own app features end-to-end across iOS, watchOS, and Mac, collaborating directly with product leadership without a fully-specified backlog.

• Build and ship user-facing improvements addressing real issues surfaced from early product use, such as watch tap-target reliability, cross-platform meeting detection, and agent responsiveness.

• Move fluidly between UX, UI, backend, and AI/ML depending on what each feature needs, making scope and design tradeoffs independently.

• Integrate agent and LLM-based features, including tool use, memory, and retrieval, into the app experience.

• Collaborate with a shared backend engineer on pipeline surfaces that both roles touch.

• Take features from design through ship through iteration based on real user feedback, without waiting for further instruction.

• Collaborate across time zones with hardware, R&D, and supply-chain teams based in China.

What We're Looking For

• 3 or more years shipping consumer product features end-to-end across at least two platforms: mobile, desktop, wearable, or backend.

• Proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI for iOS and watchOS, with shipped apps to show for it.

• Proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Electron for Mac and desktop client development.

• Genuine, demonstrated capability across UX, UI, backend, and AI/ML, not deep in one area with only surface-level exposure to the rest.

• Experience building and integrating agent and LLM-based features into production consumer applications.

• Backend experience building shared services and APIs that power multiple client surfaces.

• Prior experience as one of the first engineers at an early-stage or pre-launch startup, shipping with minimal specification.

• Comfort with ambiguity, fast iteration, and making independent UX and scope tradeoff decisions, then implementing them directly.

• Experience with real-time or streaming systems such as audio processing or live data pipelines is a plus.

• Background in wearable devices, hardware, or robotics product development is a plus.

• Prior work at an AI-native consumer app or hardware-adjacent startup is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $150,000 to $200,000 USD annually. Equity is expected given the early-stage nature of the role. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Hybrid, 3 days per week in office. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, US.
