This work underpins our vision for a connected, informed and entertained Australia.

About the role

As a Business Analyst - Spectrum Management System (SMS) Project, you will work closely with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, software developers, solution architects, testers and project leaders to understand business needs and help shape innovative digital solutions. The activities and responsibilities associated with this role are project-dependent and will continue until the completion of the project or achievement of key project deliverables.

Working in an agile environment, you will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from discovery and requirements definition to testing, implementation and business adoption. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex business challenges and support the successful delivery of a high-profile government program.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to broaden your business analysis, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills while making a meaningful contribution to a project that will shape the future of spectrum management in Australia.

Responsibilities
  • Working closely with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and document business requirements for the new system.
  • Translating business needs into functional specifications and user stories for Agile development teams.
  • Supporting process improvement initiatives by identifying gaps and recommending solutions.
  • Collaborating with technical teams to ensure requirements are understood and implemented effectively.
  • Assisting in testing and validation to ensure deliverables meet business objectives.
  • Contributing to governance and reporting by providing insights on requirement progresses, risks, and dependencies.
Our Ideal Candidate

An ideal candidate would demonstrate:

  • Strong Business Analysis expertise with experience delivering ICT projects, preferable within government or highly regulated environments.
  • Requirements management capability, including eliciting, analysing, validating and documenting complex business and functional requirements.
  • Agile delivery knowledge, with familiarity using Agile frameworks, methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement & communication skills, to build relationships, facilitate workshops, communicate effectively and influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with ability to manage competing priorities and consistently deliver high-quality outputs.
  • Proactive and solution-focused, identifying issues early, solving problems effectively and driving continuous improvement.
  • High professional integrity, demonstrating accountability, ethical behaviour, and commitment to APS and ACMA values.
  • Commitment to workplace wellbeing and safety, actively fostering a culture of physical and psychological safety, inclusion and respect.

The estimated duration of the specified task is 3 years from January 2027
