Performance Engineer (Contract)

Work Model: Primarily Onsite
Contract Duration: Through October 2027 (with potential extension)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Performance Engineer to join our enterprise performance engineering team supporting critical banking applications. In this role, you will own the complete performance testing lifecycle, from strategy and planning through execution, analysis, and stakeholder reporting.

This is a highly technical, hands-on engineering position focused on performance optimization, scalability, and system reliability. You will work closely with application teams, business stakeholders, and leadership to identify performance bottlenecks and drive improvements across enterprise platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop performance test strategies and test plans.
• Define performance objectives, workload models, and success criteria with business and technical stakeholders.
• Create, maintain, and enhance performance testing scripts.
• Execute performance, load, stress, and scalability tests.
• Analyze test results and identify system bottlenecks.
• Present performance findings, recommendations, and reports to stakeholders and leadership.
• Reproduce and troubleshoot production performance issues in test environments.
• Collaborate with and mentor teams on performance engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience with OpenText Core Performance Engineering (CPE), LoadRunner Cloud, or LoadRunner Enterprise.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining performance testing scripts.
• Experience with C programming/scripting within the LoadRunner ecosystem.
• Proven ability to independently manage the full performance testing lifecycle.
• Strong expertise in performance analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause identification.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and drive outcomes with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to work onsite in Buffalo, NY.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Dynatrace.
• Experience with JMeter and/or BlazeMeter.
• Financial services or banking industry experience.
• Prior experience mentoring teams on performance engineering practices.
• Senior-level performance engineering background.
