Role Overview
The project involves the VISION – CWIS FACS Conversion Initiative, which focuses on extracting data from the Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) BigQuery environment and delivering that data into enterprise SQL data warehouse environments.
The Lead ETL Developer will provide technical leadership throughout the conversion effort while designing, developing, testing, and deploying data ingestion and migration pipelines.
The role involves working with data from various sources, including flat files and relational databases, transforming and standardizing the data, and loading it into data warehouses, data lakes, and analytical databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of ETL and data ingestion processes supporting migration from Google Cloud Platform BigQuery to SQL-based data warehouses.
- Architect and implement scalable pipelines using modern ETL tools and cloud-native data processing frameworks.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to a team of 4+ ETL developers.
- Establish consistent development patterns, coding standards, and ETL best practices.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand and validate data requirements.
- Develop testing strategies to ensure data integrity, completeness, and accuracy.
- Optimize ETL pipelines for scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Validate transactional and analytical data models for required downstream applications and BI solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support the overall data migration and modernization initiative.
Required Skills
- 7+ years of hands-on ETL development experience
- Strong experience with modern ETL and BI/reporting tools
- Strong understanding of enterprise data models
- Expertise in ETL pipeline architecture and development
- Experience as a Technical Lead
- Experience leading or mentoring a team of 4+ developers
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Google Cloud Dataform
- Google BigQuery
- Medallion Architecture
- Strong SQL and data warehouse experience
- Experience with data migration, transformation, validation, and testing
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
