ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems Division Hangar Large Application Door (HLAD) business area in Peachtree City, Georgia is looking to fill an Industrial Controls Engineer.
Summary
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, Hangar Large Application Door, (HLAD) Industrial Controls Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of systems that control large scale door systems. This role is crucial for ensuring that the door systems run smoothly, efficiently, and safely by optimizing system performance and integrating advanced technological solutions. The ideal candidate is not only technically adept but also innovative, with a keen eye for detail and a knack for problem-solving. They should possess a comprehensive understanding of control systems, including PLCs, HMI technologies, and other control hardware and be capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to bring projects to fruition. In this position, you will be tasked with developing control schemes, conducting system testing and validation, troubleshooting and resolving system issues, and continuously improving existing processes. Controls Engineer Responsibilities & Duties
- Design and develop control systems for large scale door systems
- Conduct system testing and validation procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system requirements
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and operation manuals
- Ensure compliance with UL, other industry standards and safety regulations
- Monitor system performance and make necessary adjustments
- Train personnel on the use and operation of control systems
- Perform regular system maintenance and updates
- Integrate new technologies into existing systems
- Participate in the commissioning and start-up of new equipment
- Provide technical support and expertise to other departments as needed
- Analyze data from control systems to improve processes and efficiency
- Collaborate with purchasing, vendors, and suppliers for equipment and software purchases
Controls Engineer Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (experience in lieu of degree will be considered)
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
- Proven experience in controls engineering or a similar role
- Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of HMI systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Familiarity with industrial networking protocols and standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong project management skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in using CAD software for control system design
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Hands-on experience with automation and/or robotics
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Physical ability to inspect and monitor equipment on-site when required
