Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a highly capable Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership for a mission-critical data centre environment. The successful candidate will act as the senior technical authority for the site, ensuring the safe operation, maintenance and resilience of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

This role is ideal for an experienced Critical Facilities Engineer, Shift Leader, HVAP or Chief Engineer with a strong electrical bias and a solid understanding of cooling infrastructure within a Tier III or Tier IV environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership across all critical electrical and mechanical systems.

Ensure maximum uptime and operational resilience of the facility.

Lead incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis activities.

Review and approve SOPs, MOPs, EOPs and switching schedules.

Manage critical maintenance activities and shutdowns.

Oversee specialist contractors and service providers.

Support compliance, auditing and reporting requirements.

Ensure all work is carried out safely in line with site procedures and industry standards.

Mentor and develop engineering teams.

Desired Qualifications

HVAP or AP qualification (strongly preferred)

18th Edition Wiring Regulations

HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering

IOSH or equivalent H&S qualification

Experience within data centres, critical facilities, banking, healthcare or other high-availability environments
