Business Analyst - Power BI / Hybrid / Syracuse, NY

Our client is a well-established enterprise organization seeking a Business Analyst - Power BI to join their team on a 7+ month contract basis in Syracuse, NY. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring a minimum of three days per week onsite.

This is a highly visible role supporting business-critical reporting and operational systems. The team is looking for an experienced Business Analyst who can do more than maintain existing reports-they need someone who can build Power BI dashboards from scratch, troubleshoot complex reporting issues, and partner with business stakeholders to deliver meaningful insights. You'll work on challenging projects, gain exposure to enterprise reporting technologies, and play a key role in improving business processes through data-driven solutions.

Contract Duration: 7+ Months (Potential for Extension)
Required Skills & Experience

• 5-8 years of Business Analyst experience in a technical or operations-focused environment
• Strong hands-on Power BI experience, including building dashboards and reports from scratch
• Experience maintaining and enhancing existing Power BI reporting solutions
• Strong SQL experience, including writing and optimizing complex SQL queries
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric and live data connections
• Business analysis experience including requirements gathering and process improvement
• Project management experience coordinating technical initiatives
• Experience designing, developing, and maintaining reports
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience with Python or other coding languages for automation and interim solutions
• Experience supporting compensation, reporting, or operational systems
• Experience with SharePoint
• Familiarity with data governance and production support
• Experience improving manual processes through reporting and automation
• Experience working in an Agile environment

Daily Responsibilities

• Analyze business requirements and identify opportunities for process improvements
• Build new Power BI dashboards and reports from the ground up
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing Power BI solutions
• Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting and operational needs
• Support critical business applications and reporting systems
• Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and document solutions
• Manage technical projects from requirements through implementation
• Develop reporting and visualization solutions that support business decision-making
• Monitor reporting performance and recommend system improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality technical solutions
