Utility Project Manager (Transmission & Distribution)

Compensation: $70-$75 per hour
ABOUT THE ROLE
Brooksource is searching for a Project Manager II to oversee multiple Green I or Green II projects supporting our Fortune 500 Energy & Utilities client, with a focus on power distribution and transmission. This office-based role is responsible for managing projects in accordance with the Project Management Center of Excellence standards, ensuring successful delivery through effective scheduling, cost controls, and stakeholder collaboration.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, advanced data management skills, and experience working with cross-functional teams at all organizational levels. This position does not require any physical labor, fieldwork, or use of personal protective equipment, and is best suited for candidates with utility industry experience rather than telecom fieldwork backgrounds.
WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Manage multiple Green I or Green II utility projects in alignment with Project Management Center of Excellence standards
• Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost controls using advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) and Access
• Coordinate and communicate with stakeholders across all organizational levels, from individual contributors to executive management
• Apply project management methodologies, including Agile, to ensure successful project delivery within the utility sector
• Oversee risk management, project leadership, and foster strong collaboration among cross-functional teams
• Prepare, present, and maintain comprehensive project reports, documentation, and updates for leadership and stakeholders
• Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to interpret complex data and resolve project issues efficiently
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, utility regulations, and company policies throughout all project phases
• Leverage knowledge of construction management and utility business unit operations as required
• Maintain advanced data management practices using Microsoft Excel and Access

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5-9 years of project management experience, preferably in the utility industry (power distribution, transmission, etc.)
• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
• Proficiency in project management principles, scheduling, and cost controls
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data management; experience with Microsoft Access is a plus
• Critical thinking skills and the ability to interpret and analyze complex Excel documents
• Experience in construction management and utility business unit operations (regulated or commercial energy services)
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all organizational levels
• Demonstrated expertise in decision making, problem solving, risk management, and project leadership
• Proven ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Preferred: Master's degree (MBA, project management, or equivalent)
• Preferred: Utility technical certifications/training, PMP or CAPM certification, CMII/construction certifications, or Professional Engineer License
• Preferred: Agile project management experience in the utility industry
