Job description
Role: Senior Lab Engineer
Collegeville, PA
Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioral Competency)
Must-Have (Ideally should not be more than 3–5)
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, network, and scientific instrument data flows.
- End-User Computing/Desktop Support (Break/Fix ~80% workload).
- Networking fundamentals (IP addressing, subnetting, OSI model, firewalls).
- Active Directory.
- Experience with validated systems (GxP) and documentation.
Good-to-Have
- Microsoft Excel proficiency.
- Project support experience.
- Background in computer security.
Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role
- Maintain and support global computer infrastructure (~8000 PCs).
- Image, onboard, and secure new computers and hardware.
- Troubleshoot scientific instrument data flows and software issues.
- Support scientists with incident management, user coaching, and access management.
- Implement validated data backup solutions for laboratory analytical instruments.
- Perform software testing and validation, technical documentation, and environment checks.
- Provide D2D operations support and project-based contributions.
- Collaborate using AGILE methods.

2. Required Technical Skill Set:
- Computer troubleshooting (hardware, OS, lab instruments, connectivity issues).
- End-User Computing / Desktop Support (Break/Fix).
- Network fundamentals (Static/Dynamic IPs, Subnetting, OSI model, firewalls).
- Active Directory.
- Computer security.
- Validated systems (GxP) exposure.
- Data backup implementation for lab equipment.
- ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems.
- Software testing & validation skills.
- AGILE ways of working.
