Job description

Description:

* All applicants must be located in, or willing to commute to Dayton, OH. Relocation is not available. This is not a remote position. *

At FC Industries, we believe that your success is our success. Since our founding in 1972, we’ve grown from a small family business into a thriving manufacturing organization with more than 390,000 square feet of space. Now in our second generation of family ownership and leadership, we continue to invest in our people, our facilities, and the technology that drives us forward.

We’re continuing to invest in advanced manufacturing equipment, automation, and new technology to support our growth. That means our business systems are more important than ever. We’re looking for a Senior IT Systems Developer who can help us connect our technology, improve how we work, and build solutions that support the future of our entire organization.

About the Role:

FC Industries is seeking a Senior Epicor Kinetic Developer to serve as our internal technical expert for Epicor. This hands-on role develops custom applications, extends business logic, builds integrations, and resolves complex issues within our Epicor Kinetic environment. You will work with IT leadership and business teams to translate operational needs into reliable, maintainable ERP solutions.

You should understand how Epicor works beneath the screen: its data relationships, business objects, transaction flow, and customization tools. One day you may build a custom application in Epicor; another, you may investigate a system issue or help our Data Analyst develop a Power BI report by identifying the right data and explaining the business logic behind it.

Benefits of being a Senior Epicor Kinetic Developer:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance
  • HSA with Company Seed Money
  • Life insurance and disability plans
  • Immediate holiday pay
  • Paid Time Off
  • 401k retirement savings with company match
  • Pay for school with 100% tuition reimbursement (books included!)
  • On-site café/convenience store
  • Weekly paychecks
  • Free on-site wellness coaching and YMCA discount
  • Corporate partner discounts through Verizon, Chrysler, GM, and Working Advantage
  • Fun perks such as gift cards, 50/50 drawings, picnics, holiday parties, employee appreciation days...and more!

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for Epicor Kinetic architecture, data structures, business objects, and customization tools.
  • Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain custom Epicor applications, screens, and dashboards using Kinetic Application Studio.
  • Develop Business Process Management (BPM) directives and Epicor Functions to automate workflows, validate transactions, and implement reusable business logic.
  • Build, optimize, and document Business Activity Queries (BAQs), calculated fields, and user-defined data structures to support business requirements.
  • Design and support integrations between Epicor and other business or manufacturing systems using REST APIs, business objects, and approved integration tools.
  • Partner with the Data Analyst on Power BI reporting. Identify source data, explain table relationships and transaction logic, build reliable datasets, and validate results against Epicor transactions. Assist with report development, data modeling, and data quality or refresh issues as needed.
  • Diagnose complex application, workflow, integration, performance, and data issues; determine root causes and coordinate resolution with Epicor support and external vendors.
  • Gather requirements from business teams, evaluate standard Epicor functionality, and recommend appropriate configurations, customizations, or integrations.
  • Support Epicor implementations, migrations, upgrades, and release validation, including regression testing of customizations, integrations, and reporting dependencies.
  • Document solution designs, code, dependencies, and test results. Maintain version control and controlled deployments between development, test, and production environments.
  • Apply appropriate permissions, secure API access, and supported development methods that protect data integrity and maintainability in a cloud-hosted ERP environment.
  • Share Epicor technical knowledge with IT and business teams to strengthen internal capability and ongoing support.
Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of ERP or enterprise application development experience, including substantial hands-on Epicor ERP development and recent production experience with Epicor Kinetic.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required: Due to FC Industries’ work supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs and applicable regulatory compliance requirements, applicants must be U.S. citizens
  • Proven ability to independently deliver Epicor solutions using Application Studio, BPMs, BAQs, and Epicor Functions.
  • Strong understanding of the Epicor data model, business objects, table relationships, and transaction flow.
  • C# development experience for Epicor business logic or integrations, with working knowledge of .NET.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL query logic, with experience retrieving and validating Epicor data through BAQs, APIs, and approved data access methods.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON, web services, authentication, and system integration patterns.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities, document work, and collaborate with technical and nontechnical colleagues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing industry experience, including Epicor workflows for orders, jobs, purchasing, inventory, and financial transactions.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted Epicor environments, upgrades, and implementations across multiple companies or sites.
  • Microsoft Power BI experience, including data modeling, Power Query, or DAX; experience with Epicor reporting tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Experience using Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate to extend or integrate with Epicor.
