Job Description
The Clinical Supervisor/Nursing Supervisor oversees the coordination, management, and quality of patient care services, ensuring that care is delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with professional standards. This role supervises clinical personnel, evaluates patient care needs, guides clinicians in developing and implementing individualized plans of care, and promotes quality improvement and regulatory compliance. The Clinical Supervisor/Nursing Supervisor ensures high-quality patient care, effective clinical staff supervision, coordinated service delivery, and continuous quality improvement while supporting staff development and organizational compliance with professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Oversight: Review patient referrals, diagnoses, medications, treatments, and clinical progress to determine care needs and assign appropriate clinicians.
- Staff Supervision and Support: Monitor clinical performance, provide guidance and instruction, and ensure the delivery of high-quality home health services.
- Care Planning and Coordination: Assist clinicians in establishing therapeutic goals, prioritizing patient needs, developing plans of care, and coordinating services through case conferences.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct quarterly medical record reviews, evaluate clinical services, identify areas for improvement, and communicate findings and recommendations to leadership.
- Staff Development: Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring recommendations, employee orientation, and continuing education programs.
- Policies and Compliance: Participate in developing, revising, and evaluating organizational policies, procedures, and strategic objectives while maintaining professional standards.
- Customer Service and Community Relations: Promote a customer-focused culture and support community activities that strengthen the organization's role in healthcare delivery.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as delegated by the Clinical Director or Director of Patient Care Services.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
At least two years of management or supervisory experience within the past five years in a healthcare setting, preferably home health, primary care, or a healthcare facility, subject to applicable exceptions.
Knowledge of clinical decision-making, quality management, and performance evaluation.
Current CPR certification.
Strong observational, verbal, written communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Commitment to accepted professional nursing standards and practices.
