Associate Attorney

Location: Boston, MA
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 2 days in office / 3 days remote
Compensation: $135,000–$150,000
Billable Expectation: 1,900 hours annually, including up to 50 pro bono hours

About the Opportunity

A nationally recognized litigation law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Boston office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys substantive litigation work, significant case responsibility, and the ability to independently manage complex matters while collaborating with an experienced national team.

The firm's practice focuses on sophisticated civil litigation involving general liability, complex litigation, toxic tort, product liability, environmental liability, and commercial disputes. Its attorneys represent corporate clients ranging from major national and international organizations to privately held businesses in high-stakes matters throughout the country.

The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of litigation experience, strong deposition and motion practice experience, and the ability to independently manage a caseload from discovery through trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a litigation caseload
• Develop case strategy and manage matters through various stages of litigation
• Conduct fact, plaintiff, and other depositions
• Assist with and/or take expert depositions
• Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions and trial
• Draft and respond to discovery requests
• Review and analyze complex discovery materials
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
• Conduct sophisticated legal research and analysis
• Participate in trial preparation and provide trial support
• Collaborate with partners, associates, clients, experts, and other members of the litigation team
• Maintain accurate and timely billing records

Qualifications

• 8+ years of litigation experience in one or more of the following areas:
• General litigation
• Complex litigation
• Toxic tort liability
• Environmental liability
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
• Active admission to the Massachusetts Bar
• Demonstrated experience with depositions and motion practice
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to independently manage cases and competing deadlines
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to analyze complex factual and legal issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience taking the lead in plaintiff and expert depositions is preferred but not required.

Admission in additional states is also a plus. The firm is open to supporting qualified attorneys who are eligible to waive into additional jurisdictions.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $135,000–$150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

This position offers a flexible hybrid schedule, with attorneys generally working at least two days per week in the Boston office and up to three days remotely.

Billable Hours

The annual billable expectation is 1,900 hours, with up to 50 pro bono hours eligible for credit. Performance and compensation reviews are conducted annually.
