Please note that this is a 12-18 Month Contract position and is Remote (Might require 10-25% Travel)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent work experience.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity with automated fiber testing equipment and optical network management systems.
  • Experience: 7 -10 years in telecommunications or optical networking, with at least 3-5 years in a customer facing role.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of fiber optic testing, characterization metrics, and DWDM/light path engineering.
  • Customer Skills: Proven success managing external clients and delivering large technical projects on time.
  • Leadership: Strong ability to mentor engineers, resolve conflicts, and lead cross-functional groups.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary

You will lead a team of fiber characterization and light path design engineers supporting a major customer. You will manage daily operations, track technical deliverables, and own the customer relationship. You need a strong background in optical networks, hands-on personnel management, and direct experience managing key clients.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Personnel Management

  • Manage a technical team of fiber characterization and light path design engineers.
  • Set clear performance goals, conduct reviews and ensure training and proficiency criteria are met.
  • Hire top talent and build a high-performing engineering group.
  • Plan team capacity to match project workloads and customer demands.

Customer Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer''''s technical and leadership teams.
  • Lead regular status meetings, QBRs and review operational metrics with the customer.
  • Manage customer expectations regarding project timelines, scopes, and changes.
  • Resolve technical escalations quickly to keep the customer satisfied.

Program & Technical Operations

  • Oversee fiber characterization teams and processes including back office analysis support and field engineering
  • Guide light path design personnel
  • Track milestones and project risks using standard program management tools.
  • Ensure all training and proficiency metrics meet customer standard and contract requirements.
