Job Description
Somewhere right now, a live broadcast is going out, a control room operator is watching over critical infrastructure, and a transport network is running exactly on schedule, all connected in real time by technology built by the team you'd be joining. If you've got a solid few years of networking embedded software behind you and you're ready to get straight into meaningful work, this is worth a look.
The opportunity This is a hands-on role across the stack: one day you're down in the Linux kernel, working through device drivers and board bring-up, the next you're in real-time multimedia streaming that has to hit zero latency, because somewhere a broadcaster or a control room is relying on it.
You'll be writing embedded C, C++ and Rust for IP-based KVM and connectivity products used in genuinely mission-critical environments: broadcast, national security, transport, industrial control. This isn't internal tooling or prototype work. It's software that ships and stays in the field.
What's essential
You need a networking embedded software background, and whilst plenty of training and career progression is available, we need someone with the experience to hit the ground running. This is a mid-level role with excellent opportunity for progression. someone who can pick up an existing codebase, understand the constraints of multi-threaded, performance-critical systems, and start contributing quickly.
Alongside that, you'll bring:

This is a mid-level role with excellent opportunity for progression. someone who can pick up an existing codebase, understand the constraints of multi-threaded, performance-critical systems, and start contributing quickly.
Alongside that, you'll bring:
- Several years' hands-on experience with C, C++ and/OR Rust
- Confidence building middleware and backend applications on Linux
- A proven track record optimising performance-critical, multi-threaded code
- Bonus points if you've worked with HDMI, DisplayPort, USB, streaming media protocols or embedded Linux environments
- Employee-owned: So when the business does well, so do you
- A genuine engineering heritage stretching back decades, with national recognition for innovation and export excellence along the way
- You'll sit alongside hardware, software and test engineers who actually talk to each other, not siloed teams throwing code over a wall
- Real autonomy from day one: a say in how products get built, not just a ticket queue to work through
- Hybrid working, so you're not chained to a desk five days a week, although due to the excellent working environment many of the engineers choose to work on site most of the time, so you have a lot of support around you when needed.

- Bonus scheme
- Excellent pension
- Hybrid working
