Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer with 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise application development using Java/J2EE technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Core Java, Spring, Hibernate, web services, and database technologies, along with a solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and Agile development methodologies.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performance enterprise applications while collaborating with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and global IT teams.

Location Requirement: Candidates must be local to the New York City area and available for a face-to-face interview.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and global IT teams to ensure smooth project delivery and effective communication.
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade server-side applications using Java/J2EE technologies.
• Ensure application architecture and integration designs align with enterprise standards, platform strategies, and business objectives.
• Develop stable, scalable, and high-performance technical solutions based on business requirements.
• Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate technical requirements and development activities.
• Perform hands-on coding, debugging, unit testing, and code reviews to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, and sprint reviews.
• Develop and maintain RESTful and SOAP-based web services and enterprise integrations.
• Work with relational databases, write complex SQL queries, and optimize database performance.
• Identify and resolve technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and application defects.
• Implement appropriate test coverage and follow software engineering best practices.
• Utilize profiling tools to analyze application performance and improve system efficiency.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to support build, deployment, and integration processes.
• Stay current with emerging development practices, tools, technologies, and AI-assisted development solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills

• 10+ years of professional experience in software development, primarily building enterprise server-side applications.
• Strong hands-on expertise in Core Java and Java/J2EE technologies.
• Excellent programming skills in Spring Framework and Hibernate.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, software architecture, and design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with ORM frameworks and enterprise application development.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful and SOAP-based web services.
• Strong working knowledge of XML, XPath, XSLT, SOAP, and JSON.
• Experience with Apache Tomcat or other enterprise application/web servers.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases; Sybase or DB2 preferred.
• Experience writing and maintaining unit tests using JUnit.
• Familiarity with application profiling and performance optimization tools such as JProfiler, JProbe, or similar tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies and DevOps integration.
• Familiarity with Jira or other Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools.
• Exposure to AI tools, AI models, or AI-assisted software development.
• Excellent communication, organizational, planning, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic development environment.

Desired Skills

• Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as Angular, JavaScript, or React.
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Knowledge of financial markets, banking products, or wealth management systems.
• Experience developing and supporting applications in Unix or Linux environments.
• Experience working with distributed, enterprise-scale application architectures.

Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
