Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Hathern, Leicestershire
Salary: £48,000
Shift: Days

Job Role of the Mechanical Fitter:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a market-leading industrial manufacturer based in Hathern, Leicestershire.

Due to increased production demand, continued investment and ongoing growth across the site, the business is expanding its engineering department and is looking to add an additional Mechanical Fitter to the team.

The successful Mechanical Fitter will be working within a highly automated, fast-paced manufacturing environment, carrying out planned preventative maintenance and responding to mechanical breakdowns across a wide range of production machinery.

Sector – Industrial Manufacturing

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery
  • Responding quickly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns
  • Mechanical fault finding and diagnostics
  • Repairing, servicing and maintaining production and manufacturing equipment
  • Stripping down and rebuilding mechanical equipment and components
  • Working on bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, motors, pumps and associated mechanical equipment
  • Replacing worn or damaged mechanical components
  • Carrying out fitting, alignment and adjustment of machinery
  • Identifying recurring mechanical faults and supporting continuous improvement activities
  • Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime
  • Supporting engineering projects and machinery improvements
  • Maintaining high standards of health and safety at all times

Non-Negotiable Requirements for the Mechanical Fitter:

  • Must have a strong mechanical engineering background
  • Must hold a recognised Mechanical or Engineering Qualification
  • Previous mechanical maintenance or fitting experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance skills
  • Comfortable working within a fast-paced production environment
  • Experience working on industrial machinery and mechanical components

Requirements for the Mechanical Fitter:

  • Experience carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance
  • Strong mechanical fitting skills
  • Experience maintaining production or industrial machinery
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical breakdowns
  • Experience stripping, repairing and rebuilding mechanical components
  • Good understanding of preventative maintenance
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an engineering team

Desirable Requirements for the Mechanical Fitter:

  • Experience working within a highly automated manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with high-speed or high-volume production machinery
  • Experience working with pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, hydraulics or pneumatics
  • Experience with continuous improvement projects
  • Mechanical Fitters from a variety of industrial and manufacturing backgrounds are encouraged to apply
