Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Payments Architect with 12+ years of IT experience and deep expertise in Banking and Payments platforms. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on architect with strong Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, and enterprise architecture experience, capable of designing scalable, resilient, and high-performance payment solutions. This role requires both strategic architectural leadership and the ability to work across application, integration, data, infrastructure, and production support layers.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and drive solution architecture for enterprise payment-processing applications.
• Design highly scalable, resilient, and high-availability systems for high-volume payment workloads.
• Provide technical leadership across application, integration, database, infrastructure, security, and deployment architectures.
• Lead architecture and design reviews, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Teams, Developers, QA, Infrastructure, Database, and Operations teams.
• Architect and guide API-driven, messaging, event-driven, and system integration solutions.
• Review application design and code approaches, identifying opportunities for performance optimization and reliability improvements.
• Support production issue resolution, root cause analysis, and architectural remediation initiatives.
• Mentor engineering teams and promote architecture governance and engineering excellence.
• Drive best practices around observability, security, scalability, and operational readiness.

Required Technical Skills

• 10+ years of IT experience with significant experience in Architecture and Design.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Java
  • Spring Boot
  • Microservices Architecture
• Extensive knowledge of RESTful APIs, integration patterns, and messaging technologies.
• Strong experience with Oracle/SQL and database performance optimization.
• Experience designing and implementing distributed, high-volume, highly available systems.
• Expertise in cloud-native architectures and container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Strong understanding of:
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Application Security
  • Monitoring & Observability
  • Production Support Architecture
• Ability to perform detailed technical reviews and provide hands-on guidance to development teams.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure and application architecture across multiple technology layers.

Payments Domain Expertise

• Strong knowledge of end-to-end payment processing lifecycle.
• Experience with Commercial Banking Payments.
• Understanding of ISO 20022 payment standards and message formats.
• Experience with one or more payment systems:
  • ACH
  • Wire Transfers
  • Real-Time Payments (RTP)
  • SWIFT
• Knowledge of transaction processing, payment validations, exception handling, settlement, and reconciliation processes.
• Experience designing architectures for mission-critical payment systems.
