Technical Business Analyst (Contract)

Role Profile

Our client, a prominent player in the investment banking sector, is seeking a skilled Technical Business Analyst to join their team on a fixed-term contract basis.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Strategic Full Revaluation Capability (SFRC) platform by ensuring the integrity and quality of data across various operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and execute data quality controls to uphold the completeness, accuracy, and integrity of reporting data across batch runs.
• Execute validation checks for daily batch processing cycles, ensuring adherence to established data quality standards.
• Conduct reconciliations between upstream, downstream, and reporting systems to identify discrepancies and ensure consistency.
• Investigate data quality exceptions, breaks, and unexplained variances, providing insightful analysis to address these issues.
• Analyse trends to identify recurring data issues, collaborating with relevant teams to devise effective remediation strategies.
• Partner with Business, Technology, Data Engineering, and Production Support teams to resolve defects efficiently.
• Validate fixes and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and production implementation activities.
• Build and maintain both manual and automated data quality reporting processes to enhance operational efficiency.
• Document findings, root causes, and remediation recommendations in a clear and comprehensive manner.
• Support regulatory, risk, and audit-related reporting requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Skills & Experience:

• Strong data analysis and investigative skills, with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify anomalies.
• Proficient in SQL, with advanced skills in data querying and manipulation.
• Experience performing data reconciliation and conducting data quality analysis within financial contexts.
• Familiarity with Market Risk, Global Markets, FRTB, VaR, SVaR, CCR, or P&L reporting environments is highly desirable.
• Strong Excel skills, including the use of pivots, lookups, and complex data analysis techniques.
• Experience in producing operational or management reporting, demonstrating a keen understanding of reporting processes.
• Knowledge of Python and experience in automating reporting processes to enhance efficiency.
• Understanding of data warehousing and ETL concepts, as well as familiarity with tools such as Splunk and production support tooling.
• Awareness of regulatory and risk reporting processes, ensuring all necessary compliance requirements are met.
