The Role • Develop functional designs for Control & Instrumentation (C&I) solutions for electrical systems, deriving requirements from P&ID diagrams. • Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs) for C&I equipment. • Specify instrumentation for measuring pressure, temperature, flow, level, and analysis, ensuring suitability for specific process conditions and compliance with various standards, including defence, British, naval, and nuclear. • Design and verify C&I solutions to meet a wide range of requirements, including functional, safety, EMC, shock, and metallics. • Produce essential design documentation such as I/O schedules, instrument schedules, cable schedules, functional design specifications, and instrument specifications. • Lead and participate in technical design reviews for C&I systems and articulate technical arguments clearly and logically. What You'll Need • BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent degree in a relevant engineering discipline. • Proven experience in engineering lifecycle development and system calculations, modelling, and analysis. • Understanding of control system architecture and communication protocols (e.g., RS-485, PROFIBUS). • Experience in specifying equipment for hazardous areas and producing supporting verification evidence. • Familiarity with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508) and the generation of related safety claims. • Possess a multi-disciplinary understanding of engineering, including aspects of Mechanical, Process, Instrument, Electrical, Control, and Safety.
