Remote Liferay Developer

Prominent is hiring a Remote Liferay Developer to design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise portal applications built on the Liferay DXP platform. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java development, Liferay customization, portal architecture, integration services, and modern web technologies. This role collaborates closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers, QA teams, and product owners to deliver secure and scalable solutions.

• No visa sponsorship (current or future)
• Must work W2 Hourly directly on Prominent’s payroll (no C2C / 1099)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications on the Liferay DXP platform.
• Configure and customize Liferay portals, themes, layouts, workflows, and content management features.
• Develop custom portlets, modules, services, and integrations.
• Build and consume REST/SOAP APIs and integrate with enterprise systems.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Participate in architecture reviews and technical design discussions.
• Ensure applications meet security, performance, and scalability requirements.
• Collaborate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
• Support code reviews, testing, deployments, and release activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on Liferay development experience (Liferay DXP preferred).
• Strong Java/J2EE development background.
• Experience with:
  • Liferay DXP / Liferay Portal
  • OSGi Modules
  • Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot
  • REST APIs
  • JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • SQL databases
  • Git and CI/CD tools
• Experience working within Agile development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Liferay DXP certification.
• Healthcare domain experience using HL7 is a plus
• Experience with HIPAA-compliant systems a plus
• Experience with:
  • Elasticsearch
  • Docker/Kubernetes
  • Azure or AWS
  • Single Sign-On (SSO), OAuth, SAML
  • Content Management Systems (CMS)
