Job Description

Senior Clinical Business Analyst (Epic - Inpatient Documentation) Location: New York
All candidates advancing to interview must complete our standard identity verification step.
About the Role
We're hiring a senior clinical business analyst to lead Epic EpicCare Inpatient Documentation work - orders certification, MST build, curriculum and e-learning development, and provider personalization training. You'll drive requirements gathering, testing, and process improvement across clinical and technical teams, while mentoring junior analysts.
What You Bring
Must-Have
2 5 years' experience with Epic EMR and/or other clinical applications
Master's or advanced clinical degree plus 2 years leading requirements work for clinical/health IT software (or 1 year in clinical/healthcare admin), OR a Bachelor's plus 5 years of equivalent experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Willingness to work beyond scheduled hours as project needs require
Nice-to-Have
Epic Certification
Clinical background
At least 2 full life-cycle implementations
Relevant specialty certifications (national program, state, professional society, or academic/technical institution) - creditable month-to-month toward required experience, up to one year
What You'll Do
Requirements & Documentation
Gather and document business and clinical requirements through end-user, stakeholder, and sponsor interviews
Translate findings into conceptual data models, process flows, and technical specs for developers
Produce business, functional, and technical requirements docs per department standards
Capture data sources, user types, interface components, navigation flow, reporting, and admin system needs
Define external interfaces, constraints, quality gaps, and other non-functional requirements
Manage baseline requirement changes through formal change control
Project & Stakeholder Coordination
Flag risks, concerns, and ambiguities to the project management team and help shape solutions
Partner with PMs to keep requirements documentation on schedule
Plan, run, and follow up on meetings and workgroups
Build and deliver project presentations; contribute to special projects as needed
Quality, Testing & Support
Confirm the dev team addresses all defined requirements, working alongside QA
Ensure quality output aligns with internal policy and industry standards
Write test plans, release notes, and user/training materials
Plan and support unit acceptance testing and deployment rollouts
Handle end-user and application support, including defect troubleshooting
Leadership & Process Improvement
Train, mentor, and evaluate Junior Clinical Business Analysts and other project team members
Supervise and direct Level I/II analysts, consultants, and assigned team members
Interview candidates for junior analyst and related project roles
Lead process improvement initiatives across projects and applications; identify gaps and propose change strategies
