Security Architect (Auckland, New Zealand)

As a Security Architect (Manager level) at Avanade, you will provide security architecture leadership across complex Microsoft platform programmes. Based in Auckland, you will define and govern security design across Dynamics 365, Azure, Power Platform and M365 environments, ensuring that client solutions are secure, compliant and resilient.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead security architecture design across enterprise Microsoft technology programmes, including Dynamics 365, Azure and Power Platform
• Define security requirements, threat models and risk assessments for complex solution environments
• Design end-to-end security architectures including identity and access management, network security, data protection and compliance controls
• Advise clients on security standards, frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to New Zealand and the broader region
• Review and govern technical designs and implementation deliverables for security risk and compliance
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application and cloud architecture teams to embed security into solution design
• Lead security-related client workshops and present findings to senior stakeholders and executives
• Support pre-sales engagements with security design input, effort estimates and risk assessments
• Mentor and guide junior consultants on security practices and standards

Skills & Experiences

• You are a skilled security architect with deep expertise in Microsoft cloud security across Azure, M365 and Dynamics 365
• You are experienced in threat modelling, risk assessment and the application of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 and the Essential Eight
• You are comfortable engaging with client executives and advising on security strategy and risk
• You bring strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex security concepts for non-technical audiences
• You have experience working in consulting or professional services environments
• You likely have 8+ years of professional experience in information security, with significant architecture experience

Technical skills & experience

• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure security services: Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Azure AD / Entra ID, Conditional Access, PIM
• Experience securing Dynamics 365 CE / ERP and Power Platform environments including DLP policies and role-based access
• Knowledge of M365 security and compliance tools including Purview, Intune and Defender for Office 365
• Understanding of Zero Trust architecture principles and their application in enterprise environments
• Familiarity with New Zealand and Australian government security frameworks (NZISM, ISM, Essential Eight)
• Experience with cloud network security including Virtual Networks, NSGs, Private Endpoints and Azure Firewall

Preferred certifications

• AZ-500: Microsoft Azure Security Technologies SC-100: Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect CISSP or CISM (highly desirable)

Preferred years of experience

• You likely have 8-15 years of professional experience in information security and technology, with significant time in architecture roles.
