Job Description

πŸŒ€ The Company

Filigran, founded in October 2022, stands out in the cybertech ecosystem for its commitment to revolutionizing cyber threat management with a proactive approach. Its mission is to develop innovative open-source solutions designed to anticipate cyber threats, identify security gaps, and strengthen organizational security posture.

Filigran solutions are now trusted by over 6,000 public and private organizations worldwide.

Location: United States, East Coast (full remote)

🎯 The Role

We're looking for a Staff/Tech Lead Software Engineer to join the OpenCTI team with a distinct and high-leverage mission: drive technical collaboration with a key US-based partner actively contributing to OpenCTI. You'll be the technical anchor point ensuring this partnership produces efficient, high-quality, well-integrated contributions to the OpenCTI core project β€” while also driving technical vision and mentoring within Filigran's own engineering team.

🧭 Core Mission

  • Own and drive the technical relationship with a key external partner contributing to OpenCTI

  • Get involved early in technical refinement and design discussions for partner-driven features and contributions

  • Guide and coach partner developers on OpenCTI's architecture, coding standards, and best practices

  • Review and ensure the quality, consistency, and maintainability of external contributions before they land in core

  • Act as the bridge between the partner's engineering team and Filigran's internal roadmap, architecture, and standards

  • Proactively surface risks, blockers, and status to the Director of Engineering β€” clear, structured, no-surprises reporting

πŸ’Ό Responsibilities

  • Act as technical relay and enabler for the partnership β€” not just a solo contributor

  • Contribute directly to key parts of the codebase, especially where partner and core work intersect

  • Facilitate technical refinement sessions and design reviews with partner engineers

  • Supervise, challenge, and elevate the technical quality of contributions coming from the partnership

  • Promote OpenCTI's best practices, code quality, and performance standards externally and internally

  • Coach engineers (internal and partner-side) via pair programming, code reviews, and structured feedback

  • Collaborate with EMs/POs on task sizing, scope alignment, and roadmap planning for partner-related work

  • Proactively report progress, risks, and technical alignment issues to the Director of Engineering and Product Manager

🀝 Who You'll Work With

  • Reports directly to the Director of Software Engineering

  • Primary counterpart: engineering leads/developers at a key external partner

  • Works closely with Filigran's tech leadership (OpenCTI Principal Engineer, VP Tech) and other staff engineers

  • Collaborates with Product (PO/PM) on iteration and milestone scope involving partner contributions

  • Collaborates with developers within the OpenCTI Engineering team on features and bug fixes

βœ… Requirements

  • Strong experience with TypeScript

  • Hands-on experience with our technical stack: NodeJS, React, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, Redis

  • Strong hands-on experience leveraging AI tools (e.g. Copilot, Cursor, LLM-based agents) to accelerate and improve software development

  • Autonomy and ownership β€” proactive, self-directed, with strong reporting/alerting habits

  • Cybersecurity / CTI (Cyber Threat Intelligence) experience is not a requirement but definitely a strong plus

🧬 Profile

  • 8+ years in Software Engineering with a track record of reliable, iterative delivery

  • Comfortable in a full-remote, async-first environment, with colleagues from multiple time zones

  • Architectural force of proposal β€” pragmatic trade-offs, stakeholder alignment

  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills β€” this role requires influencing an external partner's engineering practices without formal authority over them

  • Plus: experience working with external stakeholders / partners / vendors

  • Plus: Open-source experience β€” contributing to, maintaining, or leading work on open-source projects
