Job Description

Synapri are supporting a Central Government organisation seeking a Senior Platforms Engineer with strong VMware Horizon and Windows Infrastructure experience to support and enhance a large-scale enterprise VDI and EUC environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and optimise VMware Horizon environments, including UAG, App Volumes, DEM, Instant Clones, and Connection Servers.
  • Manage Windows Server infrastructure and core services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Deliver platform upgrades, migrations, patching, and lifecycle management.
  • Automate operational tasks using PowerShell.
  • Troubleshoot complex 3rd/4th line infrastructure issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, cloud, and project teams to deliver platform improvements.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience as a Senior Platform, Infrastructure, or EUC Engineer.
  • Strong hands-on experience with VMware Horizon and VMware vSphere/ESXi.
  • Extensive Windows Server administration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, PKI, DNS, DHCP, and authentication services.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • VMware VCP or Horizon certifications.
  • Azure, AWS, or GCP experience.
  • Entra ID (Azure AD), MFA, SSO, and Conditional Access knowledge.
  • Infrastructure as Code and automation framework experience.
