We are looking for an experienced DevOps & Automation Platform Manager to take leadership of the DevOps, tooling and automation capability within a large, complex enterprise environment.

This is a senior technology leadership role combining DevOps strategy, platform ownership, operational management and major programme delivery. You will lead a geographically distributed DevOps function of approximately 30 engineers through a small number of team leads, while owning the strategic direction and performance of the wider tooling and automation estate.

The organisation is predominantly Microsoft Azure, with a smaller Legacy AWS estate being progressively decommissioned.

They need a leader who is able to bring a fresh pair of eyes to the environment, able to optimise what they are doing, drive engineering productivity and efficiency, and to help them with a future roadmap and strategy.

The Role:

You will take responsibility for the strategy, roadmap and BAU management of the DevOps and automation environment, covering Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, cloud-native tooling and wider operations/service management tooling.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Own and develop the DevOps, Tooling & Automation strategy and roadmap.

  • Lead a distributed DevOps engineering function across the UK and India.

  • Drive DevOps/SRE culture, engineering standards, automation and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee the life cycle, performance, security and reliability of tooling and automation platforms.

  • Own and optimise CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code capabilities.

  • Provide governance and leadership across major technology programmes requiring DevOps and tooling capability.

  • Ensure appropriate security, vulnerability management, compliance and SDLC governance.

  • Manage critical platform issues and ensure effective operational performance.

  • Work closely with Architecture, Security, Service Operations and senior technology stakeholders.

  • Manage third-party suppliers, SLAs, resource quality and service improvement.

  • Represent DevOps & Automation at senior governance and programme forums.
