Job Description

Palantir Foundry Developer (Contract – 6–12 Months)

Program Overview

This is a large-scale enterprise transformation program built on Palantir Foundry, centered on a Unified Data Layer (UDL) platform that consolidates data from hundreds of disparate source systems (including 30+ ERPs and operational databases) to deliver authoritative program performance visibility across schedule, cost, earned value, financial, material, and operational data.

The program requires a temporary surge of Palantir Foundry developers to supplement internal capacity, joining active delivery teams across priority financial workstreams, including manufacturing operations dashboards, executive-level reporting, and overhead rate/quality-of-service metrics.

The environment is business-led, executive-facing, and highly iterative, with requirements evolving rapidly as business leaders shape direction. Contractors will be integrated into existing agile sprints and are expected to produce visible, usable outputs starting in the first sprint.

Responsibilities

Backend

  • Build and maintain Spark/PySpark data pipelines in Palantir Foundry, including ingestion, transformation, and normalization from enterprise ERP and operational source systems
  • Develop ontology models, object types, and link types aligned to business requirements and data architecture standards
  • Perform data integration and validation, including source system connectivity, data quality checks across pipeline stages, and end-to-end data lineage verification
  • Support production separation, migration, and ontology remediation/refactoring efforts, including production readiness work
  • Participate in agile ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives)
  • Follow established development standards for branch management, naming conventions, code review, and documentation
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer and documentation to support long-term self-sufficiency of internal developers

Frontend

  • Build and iterate frontend applications, dashboards, and user-facing modules within the Palantir Foundry ecosystem (Workshop, Slate, or Carbon)
  • Develop advanced visual components, including interactive charts and data visualizations, using TypeScript and libraries such as Vega or Vega-Lite
  • Translate ambiguous or evolving business requests into clear, usable interfaces; prototype quickly and revise on a near-daily cadence when needed
  • Partner with backend engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver progress executives can see and react to
  • Contribute to frontend standards, component reuse, and documentation

Required Technical Skills

  • 3+ years of backend engineering experience in production data environments
  • Strong fundamentals in Python, PySpark, SQL, and data pipeline architecture
  • Hands-on experience with Palantir Foundry, including Pipeline Builder, Code Repositories, Contour, and Workshop
  • Hands-on experience with Foundry frontend tools: Workshop, Slate, or Carbon
  • Strong understanding of Foundry ontology design: object types, link configurations, and actions
  • Understanding of Foundry branching, scheduling, and deployment patterns
  • Experience building Foundry applications that consume ontology objects and actions
  • Excellent hands-on TypeScript proficiency
  • Experience building data-rich, interactive dashboards or business applications
  • Strong understanding of data visualization principles and at least one major charting/visualization library
  • Experience building data-intensive or workflow-driven applications in a business delivery context

Working Style

  • Comfortable operating with ambiguity, incomplete requirements, and shifting priorities; able to iterate quickly without losing quality
  • Strong communication skills, with experience working directly with non-technical business stakeholders
