Quick Overview
Job Description
Hi, we’re Gravie. Our mission is to create health benefits that actually benefit small and midsize businesses and their employees. Our innovative benefit solutions and services are developed and delivered by a diverse group of unique people. We encourage you to be your authentic self - we like you that way.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE ROLE:
We’re looking for an experienced network contracting leader to shape and execute the network strategy for Gravie’s health plan. This is a senior, strategic role focused on building the network partnerships that fuel Gravie’s growth: you’ll assess and prioritize new markets, evaluate network economics and partnership opportunities, negotiate complex network and value-based agreements, and build relationships that move opportunities from strategy through implementation. You’ll be the accountable owner for standing up new provider networks as Gravie expands, ensuring they launch on time, meet access and regulatory requirements, and deliver competitive economics. Working closely with Network leadership, Finance, Actuarial, Compliance, Product, Sales, Marketing, and Engineering, you’ll turn market insights and network strategy into scalable network products that differentiate Gravie in the market.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Build the partnerships that power new network launches — Identify and prioritize new market opportunities, evaluate regional network and innovative partnership models, and negotiate high-value agreements through execution. Deliver the strategic partnerships and implementation-ready contracts that enable Gravie to launch competitive networks in new markets.
Market intelligence & network economics — Become the expert on the markets Gravie is evaluating, combining network economics, rate benchmarking, competitor positioning, and regulatory trends to build the case for where and how we compete. Develop relationships with prospective network partners, articulate Gravie’s value proposition, and use insights from existing network performance to structure stronger partnerships and move opportunities from assessment to action.
Key Result: New network launches — Deliver successful launches of new provider networks by securing and implementing the right network partnerships to meet Gravie’s market needs, ensuring each network launches on time, in compliance, and at target cost.
YOU WILL:
Independently develop and own new network partnerships and launches, acting as the accountable lead for building compliant, competitively priced networks in new geographies
Ensure contracts and network operations meet access and network adequacy expectations and comply with applicable federal and state requirements across the markets Gravie serves.
Scope and assess new regional leased network opportunities and innovative partnerships—including centers of excellence, advanced primary care, and value-based care models—delivering assessments that support go/no-go and market prioritization decisions
Negotiate network agreements through to signature, delivering a complete implementation package. Resolve contract questions or discrepancies identified during implementation
Assess national network solutions and leased-network competitiveness, including rate benchmarking and discount validation
Negotiate high-dollar provider recoupments
Own contract lifecycle management — maintain the contract repository as the single source of truth, track renewal, termination, and notice deadlines, and monitor escalator, amendment, and reporting obligations across all network and vendor agreements
Serve as the senior escalation point for provider and vendor contract disputes
Track industry trends and competitor positioning to keep Gravie's contracting strategy ahead of the market
Partner with executive leadership on network strategy, budgeting, and cost-containment initiatives
YOU BRING:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, 8+ years of experience in provider contracting, network management, healthcare reimbursement, or network strategy, with deep fluency in provider payment methodologies, including DRGs and case rates, per diems, percent-of-charges, and fee schedules.
5+ years of experience in contracting or network roles supporting the commercial group market and employer-sponsored health plans, including self-funded, level-funded, or fully insured products, with a strong understanding of TPA, ASO, and/or leased-network arrangements.
5+ years of experience independently drafting and negotiating complex healthcare agreements, including direct provider agreements with hospitals, health systems, and physician groups.
4+ years of experience ensuring healthcare contracts and networks meet applicable federal and state regulatory requirements, including state DOI network adequacy standards and federal requirements such as the No Surprises Act.
3+ years of experience developing and negotiating value-based care arrangements, such as shared savings, risk-based models, bundled payments, or pay-for-performance arrangements.
2+ years of experience partnering cross-functionally to bring network products to market, working with teams such as Sales, Product, Marketing, and Engineering to develop go-to-market strategies, translate network capabilities into a compelling value proposition, and equip Sales to communicate network value and competitive differentiation.
EXTRA CREDIT:
Experience launching provider networks in new geographies or markets
Experience at a small or mid-sized health plan where cross-functional collaboration is a must
Familiarity with contracting or network configuration systems and how they're built or improved
Previous startup company experience
Project or program management experience
