AS400 Architect

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced AS400 Architect to design, develop, and support enterprise applications on the IBM i (AS400) platform. The candidate should have strong experience in RPG, CL, DB2, and AS400 application architecture, along with the ability to provide technical leadership and solution design.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement AS400/IBM i application solutions.
• Provide technical architecture and guidance for AS400 applications.
• Analyze existing systems and recommend modernization approaches.
• Develop and review RPGLE, CLLE, and SQL-based solutions.
• Perform application design, code reviews, and performance tuning.
• Work with business teams to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Support integration using APIs, web services, and messaging systems.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide technical resolutions.
• Mentor AS400 development teams and ensure coding standards.

Required Skills

• Strong experience with IBM i (AS400/iSeries/System i).
• Expertise in RPG, RPGLE, Free Format RPG.
• Good knowledge of CL/CLLE programming.
• Strong experience with DB2 for i and SQL.
• Experience in AS400 application architecture and design.
• Knowledge of REST APIs, Web Services, and system integration.
• Experience with performance tuning and debugging.
• Good communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AS400 modernization projects.
• Knowledge of Agile methodology and DevOps practices.
• Experience with IBM MQ, FTP, and third-party integrations.
• Exposure to cloud integration is an advantage.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
