Electrical Drafter / Designer - Control Systems
Position Summary
We are seeking an Electrical Drafter / Designer to support the design and documentation of industrial electrical control panels and automation systems.
This position will work closely with controls engineers, project managers, panel-shop personnel, and field installation teams to develop accurate panel layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
· Create and maintain electrical control-system drawings.
· Develop control panel layouts and enclosure drawings.
· Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and termination drawings.
· Develop and maintain bills of materials.
· Produce drawings for industrial control panels and automation systems.
· Update drawings based on engineering changes and field redlines.
· Prepare final as-built drawings and project documentation.
· Work with engineers to translate control-system concepts into production-ready drawings.
· Coordinate with panel builders to resolve drawing and fabrication questions.
· Support field installation teams with drawing updates and technical documentation.
· Maintain drawing standards, templates, symbols, and document-control procedures.
· Verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
· Assist with component selection and panel layout optimization.
· Maintain organized electronic project files and revision histories.
· Experience with electrical drafting, design, controls, automation, or related technical drafting.
· Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical design software.
· Ability to read and create electrical schematics.
· Understanding of electrical control components and wiring practices.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple drawings and projects simultaneously.
· Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Experience:
· AutoCAD Electrical.
· UL508A control-panel design.
· PLC and automation systems.
· Industrial electrical schematics.
· Panel layouts and enclosure design.
· VFD and motor-control systems.
· Electrical bills of materials.
