Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Backend Software Engineer to build and scale robust backend services, microservices, enterprise integrations, and automation workflows. In this role, you will power mission-critical engineering applications (including Mission Control, CAE platforms, and SPT Hub), orchestrating high-volume data movement between enterprise systems (SAP, Databricks, Splunk) and creating modern API/MCP interfaces to support traditional apps as well as autonomous AI-agent workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Architecture & APIs: Design, build, and optimize scalable microservices and RESTful APIs connecting web frontends, databases, and enterprise platforms.

• Enterprise & Data Integration: Build robust pipelines and connectors integrating complex systems including SAP, SFC, Databricks, Splunk, and distributed engineering data sources.

• AI & Agent Enablement: Design API endpoints and Model Context Protocol (MCP) server interfaces to expose platform capabilities and enterprise data to autonomous AI agents and modern LLM workflows.

• Database & Performance Engineering: Design relational schemas, write optimized SQL queries, and manage data structures in PostgreSQL while tuning latency, throughput, and system resource utilization.

• Security & Governance: Implement secure authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, RBAC) across all service endpoints and inter-service communications.

• Automation & DevOps: Develop event-driven automation for data movement and system synchronization; maintain containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines in Linux environments.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with UI developers (React), database administrators, data analytics teams, and Power Platform engineers to ship unified solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

• Programming & Architecture: Strong, hands-on experience in Python and modern backend application/microservices architecture.

• API Development: Proven track record in designing, building, and documenting production-grade REST APIs.

• Databases: Advanced proficiency with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL, schema design, and complex SQL query optimization.

• System Integration: Solid background in data integration, event handling, and data pipeline design between disparate enterprise applications.

• Security & Environments: Strong command of authentication/authorization patterns (RBAC, API keys, tokens), Git, CI/CD, and development within Linux environments.

• Troubleshooting: Deep experience in backend profiling, monitoring, debugging, and performance optimization.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:

• Framework experience in FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

• Hands-on exposure to MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers or integrating backend APIs with AI/Agentic systems.

• Experience with Databricks, AWS, or enterprise messaging systems like Apache Kafka.

• Prior integrations with enterprise systems like SAP or shop floor control (SFC)/manufacturing execution systems.

• Containerization and orchestration experience using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with Splunk logging/telemetry and basic frontend technologies (React / Node.js).
