The Paint Department Supervisor plays a key role in delivering an excellent customer experience and driving department success, leading a team, overseeing daily operations, and stepping in on the technical side (color matching, tinting) when it matters most. What you'll get to do:
- Lead, coach, and schedule a team of Paint Sales associates
- Oversee daily department operations, stocking levels, and merchandising
- Handle escalated color-matching, tinting, or product issues
- Assist customers with paint product selection and application questions
- Ensure the department maintains a professional, welcoming, shopper-friendly environment
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate reordering with the department manager
- Represent Norfolk Hardware and Norfolk Kitchen & Bath with a professional image at all times
- Minimum 4-5 years' experience in a high-volume hardware retail environment
- At least 3+ years of experience working with paint products, including tinting, mixing, and color matching
- Prior experience leading, training, or supervising other associates
- Self-motivated and available to work weekend hours
- Ability to safely operate a forklift
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs without assistance frequently
Nice-to-Haves:
- Prior experience owning department-level scheduling, inventory, or sales performance
- Familiarity with merchandising strategies to drive product sales
- Experience working cooperatively across multiple departments as a point of escalation
