Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer with a strong software engineering background to improve the reliability, observability, operability, and deployment safety of cloud-native applications.
This role combines Site Reliability Engineering with hands-on software development. The engineer will work directly with application teams and application source code, implementing changes that improve production reliability rather than focusing primarily on infrastructure and operational support.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong software engineering background with hands-on TypeScript and Node.js development experience.
  • Strong hands-on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) experience.
  • Experience working directly with application source code, including debugging production issues and implementing application-level changes.
  • Strong understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, reliability, observability, operability, and incident management.
  • Experience implementing application-level instrumentation, telemetry, metrics, logging, tracing, and health monitoring.
  • Experience supporting highly available production applications and troubleshooting issues across application and cloud layers.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Kubernetes and GKE workloads.
  • Full-stack application development experience.
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages.
  • Experience with GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform Cloud Monitoring, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.
  • Experience with Istio or another service mesh.
  • Experience with Apigee or another API gateway.
  • Experience with canary, blue/green, or progressive delivery strategies.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
  • Strong automation and testing mindset, including the ability to improve automated testing and production readiness.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working closely with application development and platform engineering teams.
This role is best suited for a strong software engineer who also brings an SRE mindset and is comfortable making hands-on changes within application code to improve reliability and operability
