Senior Java Full Stack Software Developer-NetSuite

Oracle NetSuite builds cloud business applications that help organizations manage financials, operations, commerce, and more.

We’re looking for a Senior Application Software Engineer who combines strong technical fundamentals with curiosity about better ways to build software. You’ll design and deliver reliable, scalable capabilities for enterprise customers, collaborate across engineering, product management,  and help improve how the team develops and operates software.

This is a hands-on role with ownership from understanding the business problem through design, implementation, testing, release, and production support. We value engineers who use AI-assisted development thoughtfully while remaining accountable for the correctness, security, and maintainability of their work

Responsibilities

• Translate business and customer requirements into clear technical designs, identifying dependencies, edge cases, and implementation tradeoffs.
• Own the delivery of features and improvements across design, coding, testing, release, and production support.
• Develop and maintain services, APIs, database-backed applications, and user-facing capabilities with attention to reliability, security, performance, and scalability.
• Investigate complex issues, understand unfamiliar code, and improve existing systems through practical, incremental changes.
• Use approved AI-assisted tools to support code exploration, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation. Independently validate generated output and remain accountable for its correctness and quality.
• Build quality into development through automated tests, code reviews, and validation of data integrity, backward compatibility, and performance.
• Collaborate with product management, UX, QA, and other engineering teams to clarify scope, resolve dependencies, and deliver useful customer outcomes.
• Contribute to technical decisions, explain tradeoffs, and identify opportunities to simplify architecture and reduce technical debt.
• Mentor engineers through constructive feedback, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.

• Improve development workflows through automation and AI, assessing benefits through delivery effectiveness, quality, and maintainability.

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including independently delivering features or substantial system improvements.
• Strong proficiency in Java or a comparable object-oriented programming language, such as C# or Python.
• Solid understanding of software design, data structures, algorithms, and debugging.
• Strong SQL and relational database skills, including data modeling, transactions, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience developing web applications or services, with an understanding of how browser, service, API, and database layers interact.
• Ability to design maintainable solutions and evaluate tradeoffs involving performance, reliability, complexity, and delivery effort.
• Experience with automated testing, version control, code reviews, and continuous integration.
• Ability to use AI-assisted development tools effectively, or learn them quickly, while critically reviewing their output and following security and data-handling requirements.
• Clear communication skills and experience collaborating across functions and mentoring engineers.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP, financial, or other enterprise business applications.
• Familiarity with NetSuite and SuiteScript.
• Experience building or supporting distributed systems and diagnosing production performance or reliability issues.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or modern frontend development.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications using model APIs, retrieval, or tool integrations, including evaluating output quality and handling failures.
• Examples of improving engineering productivity or software quality through automation and AI-assisted workflows.
