Senior Java Developer - Financial Markets

We are working with a major global financial organisation seeking a Senior Java Developer to work within a financial markets environment supporting critical trade processing and clearing technology. The role will focus on developing and supporting high-volume, business-critical applications using modern Java and Spring technologies, with an emphasis on microservices, messaging, data processing, performance and application resilience. The successful candidate will have strong software engineering fundamentals and experience working within complex, enterprise-scale technology environments.

Key qualifications and experience:

• Strong commercial experience developing with Java 11+, with solid knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring MVC and Spring Security.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful services and microservices architectures within enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with MQ and Kafka messaging platforms, ideally supporting high-volume, event-driven or distributed systems.
• Experience developing and supporting high-volume data processing systems, with a strong understanding of performance tuning and system optimisation.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies, with experience designing and optimising data-intensive applications.
• Proven use of Test Driven Development (TDD), Git source control and modern CI/CD practices, with a focus on application quality, resiliency and security.
• Experience working within Agile development methodologies, with strong collaboration and communication skills across development, engineering and wider financial markets technology teams.

This is a £475-525/day PAYE role (CF. £625 umbrella) based London initially for six months.
