Software engineering manager with Security Clearance

Work Location: Albuquerque, NM Clearance Requirement: Must be able to obtain atop Secret security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain clearance.

Employment Type: Full-time Job Description: We are looking for a Software Manager who writes code and leads people, not one or the other. You’ll own the software development process for a combined team of embedded and ground software engineers, run sprint-based delivery, and serve as the voice of software on interdisciplinary program teams. This means you're in architecture discussions in the morning, unblocking your team at standup, and briefing program leadership on progress and risks in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions: · Leading a team of software developers across embedded flight software and ground system domains · Running agile sprint cycles —planning, execution, retrospectives — and keeping the team moving · Representing software engineering on cross-functional program teams alongside systems, hardware, and assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) engineering · Communicating schedule, progress, and technical status to program and company leadership · Creating and assembling content for design reviews and documentation · Identifying, tracking, and mitigating software risks before they become program risks · Overseeing deployment workflows, build infrastructure, configuration management, and version control practices · Contributing technically —reviewing code, making architectural decisions, and writing software when the team needs it Required Qualifications: · 7+ years of hands-on software development in embedded systems or ground software · Demonstrated experience managing or leading a software team through iterative/agile development · Strong understanding of configuration management, CI/CD, build systems, and deployment processes · Ability to communicate technical progress, risk, and trade-offs to non-software stakeholders · Experience working on interdisciplinary engineering teams (hardware, systems, software) · U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications: · Space flight software or ground system development experience · Experience with real-time or safety-critical embedded software (C/C++, RTOS environments) · Familiarity with software assurance practices for mission-critical or safety-critical systems · Active DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance · Experience in a small-team or startup environment where you wore multiple hats Location and Travel Requirements: · This position is based in Albuquerque, NM, with occasional travel to other company locations or partner facilities as needed.
