Job Description

SQL Server DBA – Job Description

  • Administer, monitor, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases across Development, QA, UAT, Production, and Disaster Recovery environments.

  • Install, configure, patch, upgrade, migrate, and troubleshoot SQL Server instances, databases, and related services.

  • Monitor database health, availability, CPU, memory, storage, disk I/O, SQL Agent jobs, and capacity; proactively resolve performance issues.

  • Perform SQL performance tuning by analyzing execution plans, optimizing queries and stored procedures, maintaining indexes/statistics, and resolving blocking and deadlock issues.

  • Design, manage, and test backup, restore, and disaster-recovery procedures, including full, differential, and transaction-log backups aligned to RTO/RPO requirements.

  • Implement and support high-availability and disaster-recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, log shipping, replication, and failover testing.

  • Manage database security, user access, roles, permissions, encryption, auditing, and compliance requirements.

  • Automate routine DBA activities using T-SQL, PowerShell, SQL Server Agent, and monitoring tools; maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks
