AI/ML Engineer (Gen AI, LLM, RAG)

We are seeking a Lead AI/ML Engineer to design, build, and deploy enterprise-scale Generative AI solutions powered by Large Language Models (LLMs). This role combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and Responsible AI governance to deliver secure, scalable, and business-impacting AI capabilities. Please describe the team the candidate will be working with - how many members? The candidate will be working with a cross-functional team with diverse technical expertise, including Data Scientists, AI/ML Engineers, Data Engineers, Web/Application Developers, and business stakeholders. The team is responsible for designing, building, and deploying analytics, machine learning, and Generative AI solutions that deliver business value. What is the break-down of the team's skill sets (ex: 1 PM 4 Developers etc.)? 1 PM, 1 Senior Lead, 3 developers What are the top 5-10 responsibilities for this position (please be detailed as to what the candidate is expected to do or complete on a daily basis)? Architect and develop production-grade Generative AI and LLM-powered solutions. Design and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, vector search, and knowledge retrieval platforms. Build scalable APIs, AI services, and cloud-native ML/LLM infrastructure. Establish evaluation frameworks to measure model quality, accuracy, groundedness, and safety. Lead Responsible AI practices, including bias mitigation, hallucination reduction, security, privacy, and compliance controls. Partner with product, business, and engineering teams to identify and deliver high-value AI use cases. Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend innovative solutions that drive business value. What does the ideal candidate background look like (ex: healthcare specific background specific industry experience etc.)? Healthcare experience is a preferred but not required. The highest priority is finding a technically strong Lead AI/ML Engineer with deep LLM and Generative AI expertise, experience delivering production-scale solutions, and a strong understanding of Responsible AI, governance, privacy, and security in regulated environments. What skills/attributes are required (please be detailed as to number of years of experience for each skill)? Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field. 10+ years of software engineering, machine learning, or AI engineering experience 5+ years of experience building and deploying LLM or Generative AI solutions. Strong proficiency in Python and modern software engineering practices. Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS). Hands-on experience with RAG, vector databases, prompt engineering, and AI application development. Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives and influence cross-functional teams.
