Senior Java Engineer
Location: Pennington, New Jersey (Onsite)
Alternate Location: Addison, TX
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale applications supporting critical business capabilities. This role requires a hands-on technical lead who can design robust solutions, drive engineering excellence, mentor team members, and influence architectural decisions across multiple initiatives. The ideal candidate will partner closely with Product Owners, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, high-performing enterprise applications using modern Java technologies.
• Lead technical design, architecture discussions, and solution reviews for complex initiatives.
• Drive end-to-end delivery from requirements analysis through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven solutions.
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability across distributed systems.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and business partners to refine requirements and define technical solutions.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, risk, and regulatory standards.
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution of production issues for business-critical applications.
• Conduct code reviews and establish development standards and best practices.
• Mentor and develop engineers across the team.
• Champion automation, CI/CD, DevSecOps, and engineering efficiency initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience with Java-based enterprise applications.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and the Spring Framework ecosystem.
• Experience with REST APIs, microservices architecture, and SOAP-based integrations.
• Proficiency with JavaScript and modern web frameworks (Angular/React preferred).
• Extensive experience with Oracle databases, including SQL optimization, PL/SQL, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Experience with application servers including Tomcat and WebLogic.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and object-oriented design principles.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and implementing microservices and cloud-native applications.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices using tools like Ansible, Bitbucket/Git, Jenkins, and SonarQube.
• Experience with application security, vulnerability remediation, and secure coding practices.
• Financial services or other large enterprise experience.
