Hotel Finance Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Hotel Controller to lead the financial function for a premier executive hotel and conference center in St. Louis. This opportunity requires more than someone who can produce financial reports. The ideal candidate is a business-minded finance leader who understands what the numbers mean, why they move, and how financial performance connects to day-to-day hotel operations.

The property operates in partnership with a major university and business-school environment, creating a sophisticated client relationship that requires strong financial judgment, communication skills, and the ability to explain financial information to both hospitality operators and business-minded stakeholders.

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated, analytical, collaborative, and comfortable leading people while helping senior leadership make informed operational decisions.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the financial and accounting function for a full-service hotel and executive conference center
  • Partner closely with hotel leadership to understand financial performance and operational trends
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and performance results
  • Explain the business reasons behind financial variances and trends
  • Help department leaders understand how operational decisions impact financial results
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
  • Maintain strong financial controls and accounting standards
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting processes and ensure timely, accurate reporting
  • Work collaboratively with hotel leadership and university/client stakeholders
  • Identify financial risks, opportunities, and areas for operational improvement
  • Develop financial processes that support accountability and sound business decisions
  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the accounting/finance team
  • Operate independently while maintaining strong communication with senior leadership

What We're Looking For

  • Progressive accounting or finance leadership experience
  • Hospitality, hotel, resort, conference center, or related service-industry experience strongly preferred
  • Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, Director of Finance, Accounting Manager, or similar experience
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and operational finance
  • Ability to analyze financial results and clearly explain why performance is changing
  • Strong business judgment and operational mindset
  • Comfortable partnering with department leaders outside of Finance
  • Strong people-management and employee-development skills
  • Self-motivated and capable of taking ownership without constant direction
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • High degree of accuracy, organization, and follow-through
  • Comfortable working in a client-facing environment with sophisticated stakeholders
