Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Support enterprise data governance initiatives, including strategy development, implementation planning, stakeholder engagement, and program maturity.

  • Support AI governance, privacy, security, risk, and compliance activities related to data and AI-enabled systems.

  • Document AI use cases, data sources, ownership, stewardship responsibilities, risks, controls, and governance checkpoints.

  • Coordinate with privacy, security, legal, records, and compliance stakeholders for sensitive, confidential, regulated, or high-risk data.

  • Support the responsible use of AI technologies to automate and streamline data governance processes and artifacts.

  • Reinforce data classification, access management, data minimization, authorized use, retention, and secure data-sharing practices.

  • Document data-related risks, issues, policy exceptions, remediation actions, and audit evidence.

  • Support compliance considerations for HIPAA, FERPA, CJIS, IRS Publication 1075, PCI, FTI, PII, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and support data governance charters, roadmaps, operating models, stakeholder maps, and implementation plans.

  • Define data governance scope, ownership, roles, responsibilities, decision rights, and engagement processes.

  • Identify business needs, data pain points, data quality risks, and opportunities for data sharing and reuse.

  • Conduct data governance maturity assessments and develop work plans to address identified gaps.

  • Translate complex data governance concepts into clear, business-friendly guidance for executives, business teams, data stewards, and technical stakeholders.

  • Support implementation across data governance areas including organization, policies, procedures, standards, architecture, data administration and controls, metrics, reporting, and audits.

  • Develop and maintain governance artifacts such as RACI matrices, business glossaries, data dictionaries, data inventories, issue logs, policy mappings, stewardship plans, and governance roadmaps.

  • Document data domains, data ownership, stewardship responsibilities, business definitions, data flows, data quality rules, risks, controls, and performance metrics.

  • Support data catalog, metadata, data classification, lineage, and related governance documentation activities.

  • Establish and maintain governance repositories containing artifacts, meeting records, training materials, communications, and implementation evidence.

  • Develop and monitor data governance metrics, maturity indicators, and performance measures.

  • Plan, facilitate, and document governance meetings, workshops, steering committees, and stewardship working sessions.

  • Prepare agendas, presentations, meeting materials, decision logs, action-item trackers, issue logs, and executive summaries.

  • Facilitate collaboration among business leaders, data owners, data stewards, technology teams, privacy, security, legal, and compliance stakeholders.

  • Support resolution of cross-functional data issues by identifying decision points, documenting options, assessing risks, and escalating unresolved issues.

  • Establish governance meeting cadences, operating processes, and decision-making practices.

  • Develop business value cases for data governance initiatives, including benefits, risks, resource requirements, expected outcomes, and implementation options.

  • Develop and execute stakeholder engagement and change management plans to support adoption of data governance practices.

  • Develop communications including executive briefings, presentations, talking points, newsletters, FAQs, intranet content, one-page summaries, and adoption materials.

  • Communicate the business value of data governance, including improved data quality, reduced risk, trusted data, improved decision-making, service delivery, and operational efficiency.

  • Identify adoption barriers and implement targeted interventions such as communications, leadership briefings, training, job aids, and facilitation support.

  • Develop training strategies, course outlines, instructor-led materials, self-service learning content, quick reference guides, and role-based learning paths.

  • Deliver data governance and data literacy training to data owners, data stewards, data custodians, data producers, data consumers, and governance teams.

  • Develop practical training exercises covering data ownership, business glossaries, data quality, classification, metadata, data sharing, and governance processes.

  • Track training attendance, feedback, adoption metrics, and continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Promote data quality practices focused on accuracy, timeliness, accessibility, completeness, and consistency.

  • Support data governance adoption through workshops, presentations, stakeholder engagement, and ongoing communications.

  • Work collaboratively with data governance leadership, analysts, technical teams, and business stakeholders to drive implementation activities.

  • Prepare clear, professional, and executive-ready documentation, presentations, reports, and other governance deliverables.
