Putnam is seeking a Marketing Manager or Senior Marketing Manager to develop and execute marketing campaigns for a list of award-winning and bestselling fiction. This position will report to the Associate Director, Marketing. 

    

The Marketing Manager/Senior Marketing Manager will work closely with our authors and their agents, as well as with Putnam’s editors, publicists, sales team, and creative services colleagues to oversee and implement marketing campaigns for hardcover and paperback titles across a wide variety of categories.

Putnam’s illustrious roster of bestselling authors includes Megan Abbott, Chloe Benjamin, C.J. Box, Tom Clancy, Robert Crais, Jeffery Deaver, Karen Joy Fowler, Annabel Monaghan, Delia Owens, Steven Rowley, John Sandford, Jill Santopolo, Maria Semple, Sarah Winman, and many more.  

 
Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Creates and implements marketing campaigns for a variety of titles, utilizing insights and analytics to inform end-to-end strategy. 
  • Collaborates directly with editorial, publicity, sales, and creative marketing services, as well as with authors and agents, to communicate, refine, and execute plans. 
  • Works with authors to maximize campaign effectiveness, including helping to grow social media platforms, leveraging connections and pitching potential partnerships. 
  • Partners with other members of the marketing department to share ideas, brainstorm, and develop new techniques and strategies. 
  • Leverages consumer insights to create sales opportunities. 
  • Researches and explores new marketing tools, platforms, and tactics including testing and optimizing to create best-in-class, cutting edge campaigns.  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in book marketing, including experience creating and executing marketing campaigns; prior experience working on fiction titles preferred 
  • Fluency in key marketing strategies and tools including email, social media, advertising, and search 
  • Familiarity with analyzing sales patterns and other key marketing metrics to inform plans and promotions 
  • Experience presenting in both internal and external meetings to stakeholders across seniority levels 
  • The ability to meet deadlines, multitask, and prioritize effectively 
  • The ability to work as part of a collaborative team while also having the autonomy to craft and implement plans for assigned projects 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and copywriting skills 
  • PC fluency required; Canva experience a plus  

The salary for the Marketing Manager is $77,500.00. The salary range for the Senior Marketing Manager is $83,500-$86,000. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.   

 

This is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities. We will consider candidates who can work from a commutable distance to our offices at 1745 Broadway, which includes the tri-state area (NJ, CT, & PA).
