Job description

Network & Systems Administrator – RoboGym (human)

The NEURA Gym is where fleets of humanoid robots practise real tasks and generate the multimodal training data Physical AI depends on. Every training session produces dense, continuous data streams that flow through the facility network into the Neuraverse. As Network & Systems Administrator, you are the network specialist in the on-site IT team, alongside colleagues with deep Linux and Windows expertise. You own the network that carries this data, and you also help keep the site running day to day. You are one of the people on site that colleagues turn to when something IT-related needs attention, backed by our well-staffed IT team in Metzingen for 2nd and 3rd level support.

Your mission & challenges

  • Network operations: Operate, maintain, and continuously improve the Gym network (Aruba switching and Wi-Fi, 100G backbone, firewalls) and keep it available and fast under continuous training load. React quickly to incidents and fix root causes.

  • Segmentation & Zero Trust: Maintain and improve the separation between training cells and internal networks, and keep strengthening Zero Trust access controls.

  • Traffic & performance: Use QoS and traffic engineering to prioritise training-data uploads to the cloud and keep latency-sensitive traffic flowing.

  • Monitoring & capacity: Use and refine monitoring for the network and on-site systems, act on alerts, and plan capacity so problems and bottlenecks are found and resolved before they affect training.

  • Systems administration: Support the administration of on-site Windows and Linux systems together with your colleagues, and step in on systems topics where you can.

  • Automation: Improve day-to-day operations by automating repeatable network and system tasks with Ansible, Python, or PowerShell.

  • On-site IT support: Be an approachable, visible contact for developers, engineers, and robot trainers, and share first-line support with your on-site colleagues.

  • Devices & lifecycle: Provision and support workstations, laptops, and peripherals, handle local onboarding and offboarding, and keep device records accurate.

  • Smart escalation: Judge what is yours to fix and what belongs with the HQ team, and hand it over with the right context. Coordinate with HQ on cross-site connectivity and security governance.

  • Vendors: Work with network hardware vendors and service providers on equipment and maintenance.

  • Documentation & process: Maintain topology diagrams, IP plans, VLAN tables, and runbooks. Follow and help refine central IT processes rather than building local workarounds.

  • Growing with the Gym: Share configuration standards and operating experience as further NEURA Gym sites are set up.

What we can look forward to

  • Degree in an IT-related field or completed IT apprenticeship (e.g. Fachinformatiker/in Systemintegration), with at least 3 years of professional experience in network operations

  • Strong hands-on network skills: switching, routing, enterprise Wi-Fi, VLAN segmentation, and firewall configuration; Aruba/HPE experience is a plus

  • Experience with high-throughput LAN environments and QoS

  • Understanding of Zero Trust principles

  • Experience with network monitoring and structured troubleshooting

  • Scripting and automation experience (Ansible, Python, or PowerShell)

  • An advantage: administration experience with Windows and Linux, and working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID

  • A structured, independent, and proactive way of working and the confidence to take ownership of the network

  • A service-minded, calm, and analytical approach under operational pressure

  • Fluent English, spoken and written (B2+)

  • A relevant certification (e.g. ACCP, CCNA, CCNP, or Network+) is an advantage
