Graduate Chemist / Laboratory Technician
Surrey – Fully onsite
£25,000
Permanent, full-time
We are recruiting a motivated science graduate to join a well-established international business operating from a state-of-the-art facility in Surrey.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry or related science graduate to gain valuable industrial laboratory experience. You will receive structured training in sensory assessment, physical testing and a range of analytical techniques within the flavours, fragrances and natural-products sector.
The role:
- Manage the receipt, handling and dispatch of laboratory samples.
- Maintain accurate sample records and keep storage areas organised.
- Liaise with logistics, sales and quality teams to coordinate sample requirements.
- Communicate updates and help resolve sample-related delays.
- Participate in sensory training covering olfactory families, aroma chemicals and natural products.
- Support the physical testing and organoleptic evaluation of samples.
- Contribute to flavour and fragrance development projects and customer presentations.
- Gain exposure to techniques including GC, HPLC and titration.
About you:
- A recent degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- A genuine interest in flavours, fragrances, essential oils and natural products.
- Good basic laboratory and computer skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- Able to prioritise multiple tasks and work effectively within a team.
- Self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic about learning new techniques.
Previous industrial experience is not essential. This opportunity is ideally suited to a graduate looking to establish their career within a creative, technical and fast-paced laboratory environment.
