Quick overview
Job description
At Laminex, we're passionate about creating products and experiences that help Australians build, renovate and design better spaces. Backed by more than 90 years of industry leadership, we're a business that values innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. Whether you're working with customers, supporting our operations, driving commercial outcomes or leading strategic initiatives, you'll be part of a team that's shaping the future of one of Australia's most iconic building products brands.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced National Quality Manager to establish and lead a consistent, business-wide approach to quality across Laminex.
Reporting to the Head of Procurement, Planning & Quality, this Melbourne-based role will develop and implement a national quality strategy spanning suppliers, manufacturing, distribution and customer delivery. You will create the governance, systems and accountability needed to proactively manage quality, improve customer outcomes and reduce the cost of poor quality.
This is a genuine opportunity to shape a national quality function. You will assess existing practices, identify gaps and implement fit-for-purpose frameworks, controls and reporting. Rather than simply maintaining an established system, you will help determine what best practice should look like and lead the change required to embed it across the business.
What you'll be doing
- Develop and lead a national quality strategy aligned with Laminex's business objectives
- Establish clear quality governance, standards, accountabilities and reporting across functions and sites
- Strengthen quality performance across suppliers, manufacturing operations, distribution centres, transport providers and branches
- Translate customer expectations and product requirements into robust, measurable processes
- Improve how customer feedback, complaints, claims and quality issues are captured, investigated and resolved
- Build capability in root-cause analysis, corrective action and preventative quality management
- Use quality data to identify priorities and drive measurable improvements
- Reduce scrap, rework, defects, claims, warranty costs and other quality-related losses
- Establish and maintain an effective Quality Management System
- Provide leadership visibility of quality risks, trends, performance and improvement activity
- Support compliance with relevant quality, safety and environmental standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
What you'll bring
You will be an experienced quality leader who has built, redesigned or significantly improved quality frameworks within a complex manufacturing environment. You understand what a high-performing quality function looks like and can translate that knowledge into practical systems, controls and behaviours.
You will also bring:
- Strong experience in quality management within manufacturing
- Demonstrated success developing or transforming quality systems and processes
- Deep knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, governance and continuous improvement
- Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving capability
- Experience improving supplier, manufacturing and end-to-end supply-chain quality
- The ability to work across functions and influence people who may not report directly to you
- A practical, commercially focused approach to balancing quality, customer and operational outcomes
- The confidence to operate as Laminex's quality subject-matter expert
- Strong change leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in building products or a related sector would be valuable, but we are open to quality leaders from other complex manufacturing environments who can demonstrate the right depth of expertise.
Why join Laminex?
This is a rare opportunity to build a national quality capability and provides the scope to influence quality from supplier selection through to the customer, while working with experienced teams across procurement, manufacturing, supply chain, distribution, commercial, product management and customer service.
If you are an experienced quality leader who enjoys building capability, influencing change and turning quality strategy into measurable business outcomes, we would like to hear from you.
