Senior Software Engineer (Core) - NYC- Leading Digital Asset Investment Technology

Summary

Operating at the intersection of crypto and capital markets, my client builds high-performance trading technology for the rapidly evolving digital asset industry, supporting the entire trading lifecycle. They're looking for detail-oriented engineers with a track record of owning large-scale distributed systems to build the platform infrastructure that underpins their entire trading ecosystem.

This role offers the opportunity to dig deep into high-performance, distributed systems engineering: designing low-latency messaging infrastructure using Aeron, building & evolving API gateways (FIX, WebSocket, REST) and core libraries used by product teams, and maintaining the sequencer and market data distribution pipelines that sit at the heart of their architecture.

Qualifications & Experience Required

• 3-5+ years' experience of backend engineering with deep proficiency in C++, Go, Java, Rust (or similar)
• Trading systems experience is required, ideally with C++
• Strong systems-level fundamentals: concurrency primitives, memory layout, I/O models, database design, network protocols, plus performance implications of each
• Experience of owning projects end to end, particularly large-scale distributed systems, taking work from initial design through completion
• Track record of leading technical decisions and bringing the team with you
• Candidates must be based in the USA and have a legal right to work (US citizen or Green Card)

Desirable

• Experience with Aeron or comparable, e.g. Chronicle, LMAX Disruptor, ZeroMQ
• Hands-on experience building geo-distributed or multi-site systems with active-active replication and regional failover
• Familiarity with FIX protocol (4.x/5.x) or similar
