SME Network Engineer

GovCIO LLC seeks an SME Network Engineer to design, secure, and optimize complex Cisco-based networks supporting critical federal missions. In this role you'll architect and implement WAN/LAN, VPN, and cloud connectivity, ensure high availability and scalability, and troubleshoot advanced routing and security issues. You'll partner with cybersecurity, DevSecOps, and application teams to modernize legacy infrastructure, automate configurations, and meet federal compliance standards while mentoring junior engineers in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect secure, scalable WAN/LAN and cloud network solutions for federal clients
• Implement and maintain Cisco routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls across enterprise environments
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance and availability
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and application teams to meet federal security and compliance requirements
• Automate network configuration and maintenance tasks where feasible
• Create and maintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, and change records
• Mentor junior network engineers and contribute to best practices and standards
• Support modernization initiatives migrating legacy networks to resilient, cloud-enabled architectures
