The Role

We are seeking an experienced VMware Engineer to join a high-performing team supporting critical government infrastructure environments in Canberra.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on delivering, maintaining, and optimising enterprise virtualisation platforms across complex infrastructure environments. You will work alongside infrastructure, networking, security, and project teams to support VMware-based platforms and contribute to infrastructure uplift, migrations, upgrades, and operational support activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, maintain, and support VMware virtualisation environments.
  • Administer and support VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and associated infrastructure platforms.
  • Perform infrastructure upgrades, migrations, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex virtualisation and infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain high availability, performance, and resilience across VMware environments.
  • Work closely with networking, storage, and security teams to support integrated infrastructure solutions.
  • Support change management, release activities, and operational maintenance windows.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, system designs, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in infrastructure modernisation and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project and operational teams.
What You'll Need
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting enterprise VMware environments.
  • Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Experience managing enterprise virtualisation platforms and supporting critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and platform lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of storage, networking, and server infrastructure technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within government, defence, or highly regulated environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative technical teams.
