Technical Engineer

Role: Technical Engineer 
Location: Cardiff Office, Eastern Business Park, St Mellons 
Starting Salary: £30,000 to £33,000 per annum, depending on experience + up to £3,000 annual bonus 
Working pattern: Onsite, minimum 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 

We are looking for two Technical Engineers with experience to join our IT team, helping to deploy, configure and support our technical products and infrastructure. 

This is a varied, hands-on role covering application deployment, troubleshooting, SQL Server, APIs, Windows and Linux environments, networking and technical integrations. 

You’ll work closely with our Infrastructure, Development, Technical Support and Project teams to deliver reliable and secure solutions for both customers and internal teams. 

What you'll do 

• Install, configure and upgrade our applications remotely and on customer sites. 

• Troubleshoot technical issues across applications, servers, databases and network environments. 

• Deploy and support web applications, APIs and technical integrations. 

• Use SQL Server and T-SQL to investigate issues, validate data and support application configuration. 

• Configure and support Windows and Linux server environments. 

• Work closely with our Software Development team to investigate and resolve technical issues. 

• Test application installations, upgrades and technical integrations. 

• Produce and maintain clear technical documentation. 

• Provide technical guidance and escalation support to our Technical Support Engineers. 

• Support customers with technical issues and ensure sufficient diagnostic information is captured for further investigation. 

• Apply cybersecurity best practice when deploying, configuring and supporting systems. 

• Support wider infrastructure and technical delivery projects across the business. 

This role would suit an experienced engineer who enjoys understanding how systems work, investigating technical problems and taking ownership of issues through to resolution. 

You’ll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of technologies and continue developing your knowledge across infrastructure, applications, databases, networking and cybersecurity.

What we're looking for 

Essential 

• Previous experience in a technical engineering, infrastructure, application support or similar technical role. 

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Experience supporting or configuring Windows Server environments. 

• SQL Server and T-SQL experience. 

• Experience deploying or supporting web applications. 

• Good understanding of APIs and system integrations. 

• Good understanding of networking technologies and troubleshooting. 

• Strong communication and customer-facing skills. 

• Highly organised, with the ability to manage priorities and work effectively under pressure. 

Desirable 

• Experience supporting Linux environments. 

• Relevant Microsoft, infrastructure, cloud or networking certifications. 

• Experience working within a software or technology business. 

• Experience with application implementation or customer deployments. 

• Knowledge of printers, printer drivers and laser printing technologies.

Location and hours 

Onsite, Eastern Business Park, St Mellons, Cardiff, Wales. 

Minimum 37.5 hours per week, 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday, with up to one hour for lunch.

We’re an office-based team because our culture thrives on collaboration, learning and hands-on support. This role works closely with our technical teams and customers, so regular face-to-face interaction is important. 

While we don’t offer fully remote or fixed hybrid working, we’re flexible when life happens — ad hoc home working can be available where appropriate.
